School Profile

Grantley College is situated in the picturesque suburb of Parktown, Johannesburg, and provides a supportive academic mainstream learning experience to learners exhibiting learning difficulties in one or more learning areas. We aim to provide a sound holistic education in a caring community of educators, students and parents.

Students are encouraged to maximise individual potential in preparation for a successful future leading to a meaningful life.
Grantley College was born out of a need to attend to the special educational needs of children with learning disabilities of one kind or another.

It aims to create and sustain a less anxious classroom environment where students receive tuition from caring staff and a multidisciplinary remedial/educational support team. The College is one of the few schools in South Africa offering a unique opportunity to students who require a specialised mainstream supportive educational environment in grades 8 to 12.

Although academic achievement is not the sole measure of success, it is nevertheless important for the successful integration of learners into the adult world. Grantley students write the National Senior Certificate exam through the Gauteng Education Department, and achieved 100% pass rate of candidates entering this examination.

The College is renowned for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and offers students, parents and staff a friendly, creative and challenging environment in which to learn and work.

The College Constitution requires class sizes to be no more than 15, although the average class size is 11 ensuring all our students receive the added benefit of individualised support and exposure to a specialised academic and remedial staff.

Apart from a dynamic educational environment with small classes, the College offers a multidisciplinary programme that includes sport and cultural extra-mural activities.
