INTRODUCTION
Pembroke House school is located ninety minutes north of Nairobi, on 140 acres just past Gilgil town on the road to Nyahururu.

The school was founded more than eighty years ago in 1927 and is a charitable trust with any surplus going into continuous improvement of education standards.

It is a full-time boarding school for boys and girls aged six to thirteen years, and is responsive to parents daily and weekly boarding needs. There is a pre-prep unit for children aged 2-5 years. Pembroke is an IAPS school.

CURRICULUM
The school follows the British Common Entrance curriculum, an ideal foundation for I-GCSE. Subjects include: English, Maths, Science, French, Geography, History, Latin, Religious Studies, ICT, ART, Kiswahili, Music (ABRSM Exams) Classical Studies, Woodwork, Pottery, Individual Sports Coaching, Swimming and PE.

Pembroke House has exceptional links to secondary schools around the world with many children achieving bursaries and scholarships.

STAFF
Pembroke House has 26 teaching staff, a pupil to teacher ratio of 5:1 and class sizes of just 12.

Most teachers are British with extensive experience in UK preparatory schools, and the staff includes Kenyan, American and New Zealand teachers.

FACILITIES
Music School (5 Practice rooms), Science Lab, Swimming Pool, Squash, Tennis, ICT Suite (32 Computers), Sports Hall, Special Needs Learning Centre, Stables, Sports Grounds, Chapel, Cricket/Rounders Nets, Skateboard half-pipe. 140 acres to learn and play.

SCHOOL YEAR AND SCHOOL DAY
The school year runs September to August with three terms, Michaelmas (Sept-Dec), Lent (Jan-April) and Trinity (May-August).
The school day starts at 7.30am with wake up, and includes activities, clubs, tuition, lessons, sports and breaks through the day. Meals are taken together in the dining hall. The evening includes supervised prep and finishes 8-8.30pm.
