Independent Education Expo

Independent Education Expo 2011 The inaugural Independent Education Expo took place on Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st October 2011 at the historic Alexandra Palace in London. This new good schools show provided a unique platform for families from the United Kingdom and around the world to explore the wealth of independent education opportunities open to them. Feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike was resoundingly positive.

The weekend of the Expo was one of the hottest for the time of year since records began, but the balmy conditions were not enough to deter hundreds of visitors from attending and meeting representatives from schools across the UK from Scotland to Hampshire. Exhibitors included independent day and boarding schools for children of all age groups, from nursery to sixth form and beyond, offering single sex, co-educational, specialist and international schooling. Whilst parents were occupied finding out about schools, children were entertained by Science Wizards making slime and enjoying other hands-on science activities.

A highlight of the Expo was the range of seminars for parents and among the speakers were the heads of a number of prestigious independent schools. Kenneth Durham, Chairman of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference, offered excellent advice to parents on how to choose the right school.

The Independent Education Expo gave good schools the chance to showcase the outstanding facilities, accommodation, sports facilities and extra-curricular activities they provide to an audience of parents and families keen to choose the best that independent education has to offer for their children.
