Kana Academy

School Profile

Kana Academy is a private kindergarten and primary school for boys and girls aged 4 - 17. Kana Academy aims to support the children of poor families and enable them to have proper schooling in order to help break the cycle of poverty. Kana Academy run a school, in rural and suburban areas of Ethiopia where there is no early-years or primary education available. With offering disadvantaged children robust education early on there is hope for them for a better life, not just for them but also for their families, their community and ultimately the county.

Continuous financial support is required to keep these school open,and to build 12 more classrooms to accommodate 480 new students who never had the chance to go to school before besides to build an office, more toilets, a laboratory, a library and permanent water supply once financial support are available.

The problem with water: Although we drilled for water on the school land, we didn't find any. We are currently looking at options,including an eventual provision from the suburban water system,or the possibility of rain water harvesting. In the meantime,we are providing water by collection by donkey and cart from pumps in suburban.
