Over the last 100 years, the school has gained a reputation for producing high academic standards from very small classes within a caring family atmosphere. Above all else, we are a happy school where pupils work hard, play hard, and so enjoy their life.

The classes have a maximum of eighteen but with our support teachers, the ratio in many lessons is 1:9. We believe that children flourish at this age with boys and girls working together in harmony rather than in single sex schools. Many generations of the same family have passed through the school and regardless of age, everyone knows everyone else. YLS is just like a large family and new children settle in very quickly. The older children take great pride in helping their younger counterparts.Further information on Private Schools »

Charitable Status

Chris Woodhead, Chairman of Cognita, has said that parents paying to privately educate their children are being ripped off as UK independent schools waste money on "frills and frippery". He also urged schools to give up their charitable status to become wholly profitmaking organisations. What do you think?
