School Profile

York House is an independent preparatory day school for boys and girls . The boys join from 2+ to 13+ years of age and the girls join from 2+ and rise as far as Year 3 (age 7+) for September 2012. By 2016 the school will be fully co-educational. We have an increasing number of pupils and staff, giving an average class size of about 15.
We believe every child possesses many talents and it is our job to unlock, nurture and encourage them. With a long tradition of academic excellence and a broad-based curriculum, York House will give your child an education that will pave the way to a successful future. Whatever his or her individual strengths, we will inspire curiosity and independence, self-confidence and self-motivation.
York House is a large Georgian country house dating back to 1712, which stands in 47 acres of its own grounds in a rural setting within the Hertfordshire Green Belt and yet is easily accessible from the A41,A404 and M25. There are Open Mornings each term (see our website) and the Headmaster is also available for personal tours by appointment.
