School Profile
"The quality of curriculum thinking and planning in the school is a clear strength of the institution."? (Ofsted May 2005).
The Robert Ogden School, founded in 1976, is the largest school for children with autism in the UK. In addition to Day places, the school offers 38-week and 52-week residential placements in homely and autism specific facilities. In recent years the school premises, formerly a local comprehensive school, has undergone an ambitious programme of expansion and development, leading to state-of-the-art facilities backed up by a wealth of experience in autism by the staff and the wider network of the National Autistic Society.
Pupils (age 7 - 19) are able to access a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum at a level appropriate to their needs. ICT plays an important role in all aspects of school life, and this is reflected in the modern equipment throughout school and residential services. The school provides a strong pastoral base for personalised learning and development, supported by many cross-curricular clubs, such as football, dance, karaoke and re-cycling.
