The Minster School was established in 607 AD to educate singing boys for York Minster. Boy and girl choristers are still numbered amongst the 175 children educated at the school, which stands next to York Minster.
Children usually join the Nursery at the age of three and remain in the school until thirteen. The school has an enviable record of success in terms of academic, music and artistic awards to senior schools at 13+. However, it is the traditional but friendly, intimate atmosphere of the school which is its greatest attraction.
Private tours of the school are encouraged. Further information on Prep Schools »

Charitable Status Chris Woodhead, Chairman of Cognita, has said that parents paying to privately educate their children are being ripped off as UK independent schools waste money on "frills and frippery". He also urged schools to give up their charitable status to become wholly profitmaking organisations. What do you think? |
