School Profile
Talbot House School caters for boys and girls with a range of complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. For some these may be linked with medical conditions where we have a growing number of pupils with Asperger's and communication problems. Others display a range of behaviour associated learning difficulties, including ADHD and, are unable to cope with a mainstream school environment.
We provide a broad spectrum of specialist support systems; these cater in a flexible way for each individual need. This includes full-time education, with access to all national curriculum subject areas and AQA/OCR GCSE coursework. We have well established Vocational Skill Centre programmes i.e. - motor vehicle maintenance, building construction and painting and decorating modules, with accreditation to AQA Entry Level and City & Guilds Level 1 certification. We also deliver an Alternative Education package, this incorporates sections of the above education and vocational programmes. This is particularly suitable for young people referred at the end of Year 10 and the beginning of Year 11, where a pre FE module can be offered. A bespoke behaviour mentoring scheme is also available for those young people unable to access an education curriculum due to complex interpersonal skills.
