Streatham & Clapham High School is a positive school, where girls and staff have an enthusiasm for whatever it is they are doing – be it academic or extra-curricular. The school buzzes with warmth and energy. Our staff enjoy teaching, our pupils enjoy learning, and we believe that this is the key to our happiness and success.
We have high academic standards, and expect our girls to work hard. We offer them encouragement every step of the way, and pride ourselves on raising their expectations and adding value to their academic achievements. The girls leave the school as confident individuals with high self-esteem and clear ambitions.
The School is firmly rooted in the local community, and takes girls from a wide range of backgrounds. The girls are not cocooned, but are taught to welcome and embrace diversity, thus preparing them for life in the outside world.
The School has spacious Senior and Junior Departments housed on separate sites. The Senior Department sits in one of the greenest areas of South London, on the edge of Tooting Bec Common, and is surrounded by trees. The School has recently acquired the adjacent playing fields and now boasts a full-sized all-weather hockey pitch, and turf pitch. The Junior Department has a large playground, and a well-adapted play area for the Nursery children. Both buildings have all the facilities one would expect in a modern London school.
The PE and Performing Arts Departments flourish, and the girls are encouraged to take part in the host of extra-curricular activities on offer, some organised by staff, others by members of the Sixth Form. The Sixth Form play an active role in the life of the School, and are clearly proud of SCHS.
