St John's School was founded in North London in 1851 for the education of the sons of Anglican clergy. The move to Leatherhead was made in 1872 and a Royal Charter was granted in 1922. St John's is a Day and Boarding School for boys and girls aged 13-18 and has grown to 550 pupils, including Foundationers (the sons and daughters of clergy).

Motto: "Quae sursum sunt quaerite" - "Seek those things which are above".

The School has a Multimedia Studio, a Sixth Form Study Centre. a Performing Arts Centre, a Sixth Form Social Centre. The Henry Dawes Centre, a new Classroom block opened in September 2010, accommodates purpose-built Design & Technology workshops, Library, Art Studios, IT suites as well as classrooms.
