The School has been a focal point for the education of boys in the Selby-Goole area for over 330 years, first as Drax Grammar School, and (since 1967) as The Read School. It is now a coeducational boarding and day school, offering a wide range of academic studies at GCSE and A Level, together with a full programme of sports, drama, music, CCF and adventurous activity. High standards are expected in all aspects of endeavour, and in behaviour and manners. The school welcomes children of all abilities and able boys and girls, achieving high grades in public examinations, work alongside children of more modest abilities.
