Ratcliffe College offers a balanced all-round catholic day and boarding education to boys and girls aged 3-18 on a superb 100 acre campus; there are good class sizes, well-resourced classrooms, high academic standards, excellent pastoral care, full extra-curricular programme and extended school day. Whilst it is a Catholic school, Ratcliffe welcomes children from other denominations.
In the Senior School (11-18 year-olds) a broad and balanced curriculum is offered, with most students taking nine or ten GCSEs, while also being encouraged to participate fully in extra-curricular activities. In the Sixth Form, students study three or four A level courses, from a list of twenty-two subjects available. The emphasis in the Sixth Form is on establishing a strong work ethic and an independent approach to learning in preparation for university.
A state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre opened in January 2007 and is proving an outstanding resource, offering Sixth Formers the combination of an extensively resourced private study area with full IT availability, together with a social area that provides an informal, relaxed setting for breaks and lunchtime as well as extra curricular activities.
In the Junior Department, (5 - 11 year olds), as well as the core subjects, children also learn French and subjects like PE, Music, History and Geography are emphasised: younger students use the Senior School specialist facilities for ICT, Drama, Music and Sport. The Nursery School (3-5 year-olds) is situated in a purpose-built secure building with excellent facilities.
Ratcliffe has superb sporting and cultural facilities, and a beautiful Chapel at the heart of the school. Students may board from the age of 10 (Year 6 entry). We offer different types of boarding: Full, Weekly and Occasional.
