Malvern College is a leading independent co-educational boarding and day school which aims to develop well-rounded, balanced individuals who will achieve personal fulfilment at university, at work and in society at large.
The focus of the school is academic work. The broad curriculum and co-curriculum is under-pinned by a strong emphasis on pastoral care to encourage and enable individuals to maximise their potential. Malvern offers a choice between the International Baccalaureate and A levels in the Sixth Form and produces impressive results. The current results at GCSE/IGCSE level have been some of the best to date.
This year we have made significant investments in state-of-the-art sports facilities and have also opened two new superbly equipped boarding houses. The boarding houses have extensive en-suite facilities and the new Sports Complex includes a 25m swimming pool, an eight-court sports hall, a shooting range, squash courts, dance studio, multi-purpose fitness suite and a hospitality suite. The Sports Complex has been designed to accommodate the needs of the school and that of Worcester County Cricket Club, who will use the facility for its winter training. In addition, we offer a wide range of co-curricular activities from canoeing and mountain biking to Tae kwon do and scuba-diving.
The Downs, Malvern College Prep School, is located on a delightful 55-acre site nearby. Here there has also been significant investment in enhanced facilities this year with the addition of a brand new sports hall, 'Astro' hockey pitch, tennis and netball courts. Emphasis is on the outdoor curriculum, enabling young pupils to make the most of the wonderful outdoor country campus. The Downs offers outstanding, flexible, family-style boarding and runs a helpful transport network for local day children. The unique narrow-gauge steam railway, which has existed here for 80 years, still delights the young student engineers who are invited to maintain it.
Stimulated and challenged by the "Malvern experience", pupils more frequently exceed expectations than match them. The focus on individual achievement is counterbalanced by an encouragement of teamwork and a spirit of co-operation and service to others.
