Haileybury has been one of the country's leading boarding schools for nearly 150 years. From earlier generations we have inherited a large and beautifully appointed site of 500 acres situated within easy reach of central London.
To the fine historic buildings have been added an impressive collection of new buildings in recent years, all on a generous scale, most of spectacular design. Perhaps the most imaginative of the recent additions are the two girls' houses, Colvin and Melvill. They are built around, and in part project over, one of the two ponds meticulously laid out by the renowned landscape gardener, Humphrey Repton, in 1806. These buildings recently won one of the Royal Institute of British Architects National Awards for architectural merit.
