School Profile

'Frensham is such a wonderful place: the atmosphere oozes confidence without even a whiff of pretension. I am immensely proud to be able to say that my daughter is at Frensham Heights where she has been encouraged to become an individual who sometimes questions the system and where good behaviour is a matter of conscience and not the result of a long list of inexplicable rules.' This parent identifies that our ethos is not straightforwardly academic. Our concerns are much wider, tolerance and creativity being equally important. Our acres of ground and glorious views over miles of countryside offer a perfect and peaceful place for children to grow and develop.

Our founders (two formidable free-thinking women) believed that co-education, rational thinking and an open mind were essential for the development of a true understanding. They highlighted personal development and responsibility together with creativity and self expression. So they would have been delighted that, in awarding us one of their very first Gold Artsmark, the Arts Council of Great Britain were recognising that creative thought permeates the entire curriculum. As proof of this the results achieved in mathematics and science have always equalled or even exceeded those in the arts and humanities.

Co-education has always been at the heart of what we do. We know that genuine co-education is based on mutual respect. And it is this mutual respect that is so much valued by our pupils, our staff our parents and perhaps most of all by universities and employers who frequently remark upon the maturity of our pupils and their ability to lead and be led.
