Ewell Castle is a small, thriving independent day school located in Ewell Village. The Junior School is located on two sites in the heart of the village: Chessington Lodge -Nursery to Year 2 and Glyn House - Y3 to Y6. The school is co-educational and provides for approximately 200 pupils from age three to eleven.
Children thrive in the caring and structured environment at the Junior School. They learn to appreciate working and playing with others and to work independently. Extra curricular provision is extensive with a strong emphasis upon music from Early Years and a programme of increasing physical activity. Most boys will progress to the Senior School at 11 but all pupils receive appropriate preparation for entrance at 11+ to selective state schools.
The Junior School underwent two inspections in 2007-08. The Independent Schools Inspection (ISI) report from October 2007 describes the school as "preparing pupils through good teaching and a broad based educational experience, enabling them (pupils) to achieve well. The school community is well supported by strong family values which contribute to the outstanding links with parents, the good level of pastoral care and the good spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils."
Osfted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) inspected the Early Years provision in June 2008 and recorded all aspects of provision as 'outstanding'.
