Our School
Cottesmore is one of the UK's leading IAPS Co-educational Boarding Schools for children aged between 7 and 13 years, situated in 40 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in the heart of the glorious Sussex countryside, yet within 45 minutes of Central London.

Our Vision
"Cottesmore School is a Boarding community that puts children first. Our Christian and family ethos enables us to enrich the lives of the young people in our care. Each child is cared for, valued, inspired, nurtured and educated to achieve personal excellence through the enhancement of their intellectual curiosity, academic achievement, physical development, imagination, creativity, and spirituality."

Why Board and why Cottesmore?
Cottesmore provides boys and girls with a safe environment in which to learn and grow. Boarding is a time to play, make friends, get muddy and generally enjoy yourself. The all-round education on offer with its fun, friendships, family ethos, all contribute to making it an attractive option for today's parents and their children. Boarding eliminates daily travel to and from school and those tiresome evening runs to a myriad of after-school clubs. At Cottesmore all of these are part of the daily timetable and conveniently on hand. The high academic standards, continuity and stability of education that Cottesmore offers is a major factor when making that all-important decision about your child's future.

What makes Cottesmore so special?
Possibly because as a Boarding School, staff and children have enough time to really get to know and trust each other. Perhaps as a small school it is easier to treat children as individuals and cater for their individual needs. Maybe it is something to do with the building itself - when you enter the school and step into the Hall, the first thing you will feel is the warm, welcoming, friendly atmosphere and, depending upon the time of day, you will see teachers, surrounded by children keen to know what their break time activity or hobby might be. The list of sports and extra curricular opportunities seems endless, from Cooking & Choir, to Ballet & Bowling, Cottesmore is a "one stop educational shop". No more wasted time in traffic queues on the way to Brownies, Swimming, Fencing or the Rugby Club. The best thing for parents though is no more nagging about homework being done! The Good Schools Guide says - "Like all the best preps, Cottesmore excels in providing an opportunity for every pupil to shine" and "Pastoral care all-important, 'we treat every child in the school as if he or she were our own,' says Mr Tysoe." In many ways Cottesmore is more like a home than a school.

The school has excellent facilities, including a modern purpose built Art Room and state of the art Design Technology workshop, 2 Libraries, an IT suite, theatre and music practice rooms. There is also an Indoor Swimming Pool, Tennis and Netball Courts, Grass Courts, a Golf Course, an Adventure Playground and extensive Playing Fields.

The school has an impressive academic record: the curriculum is designed to give all children the broadest possible education, whilst preparing them for Scholarship or Common Entrance. We are proud of our pupils who go on to further success at the country's top Public Schools.

The Children enjoy action packed days from seven in the morning until bedtime at half past eight six days a week and although on Sunday there is plenty of Free Time, the children always have something to do and someone with whom to play. Play is important for children - they learn negotiation and leadership skills and how to resolve issues, as well as how to occupy their time constructively away from PSPs, MP3s and the TV. We place great emphasis on a healthy diet and lifestyle using fresh produce from local suppliers - the Good Schools Guide says, "Must surely win award for best school food in Britain". Staff sit with the children and supervise table manners, indeed there is a strong emphasis throughout the school on manners - no hands in pockets, please and thank you and holding doors open. We offer "Traditional Values in a Modern World."
