School Profile
The School
Chafyn Grove is set in 14 acres of grounds on the edge of the historic city of Salisbury. The children thrive in an ambitious academic environment, where good sports facilities; extensive Art, Music and Drama opportunities and a commitment to extra-curricular activities encourage your child to discover their interests and their strengths.
Chafyn Grove has a happy family atmosphere that is created by a caring pastoral system and a team of talented and committed teachers. Pupils at Chafyn Grove School enjoy a good relationship with our staff; there is mutual friendship and a healthy respect. Our children also develop good relationships with other pupils, whether younger or older. Assemblies, chapel and tutor time all foster an understanding of how people should treat one another.
The Boarders
We have a mix of day and boarding pupils. Our boarding enhances the sense of community and is all about making the most of your time at school, developing independence and making friends for life - our aim is to provide a caring and happy environment in which children thrive and grow. Our boarders benefit from a secure and homely atmosphere and are accommodated in cosy, brightly decorated dormitories, often creatively decorated with their own pictures and posters, their own bedding and of course a teddy or two! There is a full weekly activity programme for boarders, as well as a weekend programme, where both boarding and teaching staff are fully involved with the children.
The achievements
Small class sizes (maximum 16) and a commitment to high standards allow our pupils to perform impressively in the classroom. All pupils reached the school of their choice last year and a record 17 scholarships have been awarded so far to our pupils to Senior Schools in 2007. Pupils go on to many well-known Senior Schools including Canford, Eton, Marlborough, Bryanston, Godolphin and Winchester. Pupils are also prepared for 11+ to the two Grammar Schools in Salisbury and a record number of Year 6 pupils made the grade last year, although some opted to stay at Chafyn! Scholarships to Chafyn are awarded in Years 2,4, and 6, and take place in February.
The Facilities
Our facilities include ten acres of playing fields, a large astro-turf pitch, 25 metre heated swimming pool, 2 tennis courts, 2 squash courts, sports hall, music school, creative arts centre, two science laboratories and a computer centre. A new library block with a computerised resource centre and 8 classrooms opened in May 2006.
