School Profile
The Antwerp British School was founded in 1978 to provide an English-medium education for children in the international community of Antwerp.
The school offers a British-based international curriculum to pupils in Kindergarten to IGCSE, an age range of 3-16 years. Dutch and French are introduced in Class 4 and the use of computers is treated as part of daily school life at all levels. A commitment to small classes ensures a high level of individual attention for each child. The teaching staff is well-qualified and contains a balance of experience and youth. The average length of teaching experience is 10 years.
The pupil population is international in character with some 20 countries represented. Many are long-term or permanent residents in Belgium. The school is situated in central Antwerp. It is housed in a purpose-built facility that comprises 14 classrooms, library/AV room, science laboratory, computer rooms, theatre, gymnasium and playground.
The school year of three terms, begins in early September and ends in late June with major holidays at Christmas and Easter. The school day is from 09:00 to 15:30.
